The Baby Book Club book of the month from Scholastic Canada for March was 'Hugs' by Robert Munsch. What a cute story, and rings very true…hugs from mom are simply the best! momstown Oakville gathered at Little Sprouts Cuts for Kids for our Rhyme, Rhythm & Read program and enjoyed our story time as well as some other fun activities to get our babies smiling.
Little ones got a chance to explore and play with:
We sang some new songs as well as favourites like 'Wheels On The Bus' and we also taught moms a rhyming game that is great to use to entertain baby when you are out somewhere waiting or just for some fun at home. Once you do this rhyme often enough, your child will start to really anticipate the end with lots of excitement and giggles.
The Farmer's Horse Rhyme
(sit baby on your knees, facing you)
The farmer's horse goes trot, trot, trot, trot (holding babies hands or back, move baby slowly back and forth)
The lady's horse goes clip clop, clip clop (bounce your knees one at a time, slowly)
The gentleman's horse goes trip trot, trip trot (bounce your knees together, quicker pace)
But <insert baby's name> horse (pause for anticipation!), <baby's name> horse goes gallopy, gallopy, gallopy! (bounce both your knees quickly and as widly as your baby likes).
Congratulations to our book winners for this month!
We look forward to having more musical and literacy fun at Rhyme, Rhythm & Read next month. To find out how to attend momstown Oakville programs, click here to learn about our program pass.
