Looking for a family day trip that includes a cool water reprieve with a sandy beach for the kids this summer? The following are some amazing Ontario beaches that offer all that and more.
Location: 110km east of Toronto (1 hour and 15 min)
Large family friendly white sandy beach with life guard (in season) and updated washroom facilities, adjacent Victoria Park has splash pad and playground. Bring your own beach picnic or there is nearby canteen for easy eats. Also only one block walk into town with quaint shops and restaurants. No pets on beach however can bring with leash on surrounding boardwalk and park.
Location: 39km west of Oakville (30 min)
Pristine, shallow water edge and lifeguard supervised beach, short drive from Oakville, leashed pets are permitted except on main beach, you can bring your own BBQ and food canteen available, offers multiple scenic picnic areas and pavilions with washroom facilities. Fishing is permitted at shore and by non- motorized boat. Rentals include: Paddle Boats, Kayak and Canoes. Open June/July/August – 8:30 am to 9 p.m. Adult day pass: $6.75, Child day pass: $5 (kids under 4 are free!)
Location: 150 km north of Oakville (1 hour and 40 min)
6 beaches of 14km of smooth white sand with shallow waters (beach 1 & 2) ideal for families. Bring your travel BBQ (use in picnic area beside beach(s), plenty of beach concessions and washrooms, beach 3 has a fenced area for pets, beach 4/5 have playgrounds. Fishing, canoeing and boating are also popular, boat rentals available. Beaches open 24/7.
Location: 54km east of Oakville (1 hour)
Situated at the bottom of Scarborough Bluffs, this large supervised beach (eastern part) has white sandy beaches ideal for shallow water swimming and picnicking on the beach. Plenty of parking (full by pm through), beach concessions , marina and washroom facilities. There are also several scenic trails to explore.
Location: 43 Km east of Oakville (1 hour – including ferry ride)
A short ferry ride from downtown Toronto to Centre Island will give your family clean supervised beaches (south side), plenty of picnic areas and washroom facilities, playgrounds , wading pools, boat /bike rentals, beach concessions/restaurants and Centreville Amusement Park. Ferry Fares: $6.50 for adults, $3 for children (2 and under free).
Location: 40 Km east of Oakville (45 minutes)
Two acres of beach located right in the heart of Toronto. You can enjoy an afternoon playing in the sand or watching boats on the lake. There is a water structure located next to the beach where kids and adults can cool off
Location: 120 KM southwest of Oakville (about 1 hour, 30 mins)
Two miles of groomed sandy beach means safe swimming for kids. Lots of beach parking available. Fishing, hiking, water sports and golfing are also options in Turkey Point. The beach hamlet has a variety of restaurants and businesses, as well as parks.
Location: 140 KM southwest of Oakville (about a 2 hour drive)
Over 1.5 km of sandy beaches on Lake Erie for kids to discover and they also have a dog beach too! Picnic tables and bathrooms are on site for day use visitors. The swimming areas are not supervised by lifeguards.

Sauble Beach is the second longest fresh water beach in the world. Enjoy seven miles of beautiful, clean beach on the pricturesque shores of Lake Huron. Not only is the beach an amazing place to spend family time but Sauble Beach also offers lots of attractions, restaurants and shops and has many accomodation options if you want to stay for a few days. Camping, Bed & Breakfasts and Hotels are all an option.
