Ready to mark your calendar? The online lottery to get tickets to Conservation Halton's Christmas Town starts in early September (it ran September 4- 25 in 2014). That's right, just as the kids go back to school, you need to add Christmas to your to do list! And while it may seem a bit silly to start planning so early, throwing your hat into the ring for this Christmas event is worth it.
Once you enter the ticket lottery, you can choose three times that work for you in order of preference, pick the number of tickets you want and then tickets are randomly assigned once the lottery closes. You will get notified of your event time sometime towards the end of October. The event runs mid November until December 24th. Tickets are $20+HST per child and $24+HST per adult (which includes admission into the conservation area). If your child is under 12 months and will not be visiting with Santa, they don't need a ticket.
So if you get tickets, what can you expect?
While there was no snow during our visit, it was still a pretty magical place and I would definitely recommend this experience. Don't forget to dress warmly as you are outside for most of the hour and you can bring a blanket for the sleigh ride if you'd like (either to sit on or to keep warm).
