As a parent to two young children, we're heavily into the birthday party circuit. The presents, the cake, the loot bags, the fun parties making crafts, bowling, visit to the trampoline park – birthdays are a big deal these days. Whether you agree with a major birthday celebration or not, I think we can all agree that every parent wants to make their child feel special on their birthday. And while presents are probably thought of as a potential financial stress, can you imagine not even being able to afford to buy a birthday cake? When someone is struggling to provide for their family, the added heartbreak of not being able to provide small things like this for their child is something we want to help change.
After seeing 'cake mix/icing' on the most needed list for the Fare Share Food Bank in Oakville, I couldn't stop thinking about it. So we're having a Birthday Cake Drive for the Fare Share Food Bank and we hope you will help! And as a thank you for your support, we'll have Glow With Us Mobile Massage on hand to give mini massages, there will be treats and even a prize or two to give away.
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR!
Date: Tuesday, May 26
Time: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Location: Little Rascals Place Indoor Playground (1027 Speers Road, #25 in Oakville)
OPEN TO EVERYONE!
If you can't make the above date but would still like to donate a cake mix and icing, please email info.oakville@momstown.ca and we'd be happy to work out other drop off/pick up arrangements. We'll also take donations for the month of May at any momstown Oakville program.
And of course, you can check out the full list of what the most needed food items are at Oakville's Fare Share Food Bank and bring more than cake mix if you are interested and able.
Our goal is to collect 350 cake mixes and icing – please help us make it happen!
