Sleep is essential for a person’s health and wellbeing, according to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF). Yet millions of people do not get enough sleep. Would you be surprised to know that 69 percent of children experience one or more sleep problems a few nights or more during a week? Read more about Crystal Duggan, owner of Precious Dreamers, a new Infant and Child Sleep Consulting business in Oakville and find out how they can help.
Why Did Your Start Your Business?
Crystal Duggan (CD): The idea for Precious Dreamers started after sleep training my daughter. I didn’t realize how much sleep my husband and I were missing, until we got a few full nights of rest. I could not believe the fog I was in being constantly fatigued. The more rest I got and the better I felt, I knew I had to share this amazing discovery with every exhausted parent out there. I jumped on a plane to Florida to begin my extensive training program from Dana Obleman herself and never looked back.
Parenthood is the toughest job is the world; there are no breaks, holidays or time off. You are constantly bombarded with too much information about what to do or not to do. Within this fog I look to offer some clarity as to why sleep is so important and should not be ignored.
What Do You Love About It?
CD: The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the transformation in my clients. They come to me exhausted, frustrated, lost and desperately seeking solutions. Fast forward a few short weeks, everyone is happier, rested and enjoying being a family again. Watching parents give the gift of sleep to the entire household is the most rewarding part of my job.
What Do You Want Oakville Parents To Know About You?
CD: Sleep is essential for a person’s health and wellbeing; children who have healthy sleep habits are happy, smart and alert children. Making sure the parents are confident and comfortable with every step in the process ensures success. If the parents are not comfortable, they are less likely to carry out the plan which leaves everyone more stressed and frustrated. I empower my clients to be the catalyst in their child’s sleep journey. After all no one knows your child like you do.
Honest and current information about their child’s sleep and development helps my clients stay on track to ensure we reach our goals. I inform my clients on how to measure success and what is normal at each stage in the process. Full support during this time is key. Whenever your changing a routine or behavior it is difficult to stay on track and remember why you started. A close working relationship with my clients is the key to success.
