Alphabet letters come to life at our monthly Alpha-Bits Alphabet Play phonics program. We combined our literacy theme with our monthly theme of colours which resulted in learning about two important concepts for toddlers and preschoolers.
We read stories about colours, made a rainbow windsock by gluing cotton onto half a paper plate and then taping different coloured streamers on the back to make a rainbow that flaps in the breeze. Everyone got a chance to play with the rainbow felt puzzle, where kids had to make a rainbow by sticking the right coloured felt pieces onto the backing. After playing a few other games, it was story time featuring a booke called "Scat the Cat" which is about a cat that liked to keep changing his colours and then at the end he decided he was happiest being himself – a black cat.
