This month, the momstown Oakville Alpha-Bits Alphabet Play program explored the letter 'E'. And since we were heading into Easter weekend, this was a perfect fit! We had lots of acitivities to help teach children all about the tricky letter 'E' and its long and short sound and also enjoyed some yummy snacks. Thanks to Alpha-Bits for providing some letter cereal to munch on.
To start off our program, we gave children a chance to trace the letter 'E' using sensory squishy bags. Next came a crowd favourite – the surprise bag! Kids got a chance to close their eyes and reach inside the surprise bag to pull out something that started with the letter 'E'. We talked about how the word sounded (egg vs eel) and where we might find the item that was pulled out.
To work on more letter recognition, each child was given some blocks and worked to build a letter 'E'.
We rounded out the morning with a mini Easter egg hunt, reading some books, making some bunny ears and some rhymes and songs. Sleeping bunnies was a hit!
